11 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

American Horror Story” Season 7 is adding a new “Girl” to its cast.

Lena Dunham is joining the FX horror anthology, co-creator Ryan Murphy announced in a tweet on Wednesday evening.

“Thrilled that my talented friend Lena Dunham is joining the American Horror Story family,” he wrote. “Always wanted to work together, and now we r!”

Additional details about Dunham’s role have not yet been revealed. The title of “Ahs” Season 7, which Murphy previously revealed will be inspired by the 2016 presidential election, will be announced on Thursday.

Previously announced cast members include “Ahs” veterans Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, as well as franchise newcomers Billie Lourd (who worked with Murphy on “Scream Queens”) and “Billy on the Street’s” Billy Eichner. Beyond that, however, Murphy and FX have unsurprisingly revealed little about the upcoming season, with Murphy most recently dropping a clue in the form of a nightmarish bee-filled photo on his Instagram.

The stunt doubles in a Hollywood film are often some of the toughest and most fit people in the world. To make the movie look realistic and make it appear as though the hero, the villain, or the character in the scene at that given moment is just a little more impressive they put their bodies on the line to insure that the scene is as perfect as it can be. Most times they are paired with actors and actresses that they can realistically pass for, but sometimes stunt doubles are actors as well and can contribute to the overall

‘Carpool Karaoke’ Producer Making Live-Music Series for the BBC

1 hour ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

The BBC is bringing a live-music series back to its flagship BBC One channel, with “Carpool Karaoke” producer Fulwell 73 making a new show that will launch later this year.

James Corden is a partner in Fulwell 73, which produces “The Late Late Show,” but the BBC told Variety that he will not host the new British music series.

For decades going back to the 1960s, music-chart series “Top of the Pops” was a mainstay of the BBC’s weekly schedule, but the pubcaster took the show off the air in 2006. Unlike “Top of the Pops,” which centered on live acts and music videos, the Fulwell 73 show will also feature sketches and interviews, as well as music from the biggest British and international acts. The show launches on BBC One this fall.

‘Leatherface,’ the Surprise ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ Prequel, Looks Gruesome as Hell

Even more than sequels, prequels have a tendency to fall flat with audiences.  Although people are pre-wired to want more of anything they like – a character, a story, a concept – most movies simply are built to support a protracted look at their own internal mythology. Add to that the tendency of talented creators– the hard-working men and women whose dedication made the original so worthwhile in the first place – to move on to bigger and better things, and it’s no wonder they invariably fail to connect with audiences.  It’s nothing short of a miracle that the Child’s

21st Century Fox Must Wait for U.K. Decision on Bid for Sky

2 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

The British government said that it would not make a decision on 21 Century Fox’s takeover bid for Sky before Parliament breaks for summer Thursday but added that a decision could be announced “within weeks.”

Culture secretary Karen Bradley said she could reach a decision during Parliament’s summer recess and, having not received any new information or concessions from the parties involved, remains “minded to” refer elements of the deal concerning media plurality to British competition authorities, and to waive the element about whether the Murdochs are “fit and proper” owners of a merged group.

“There was nothing in their representations that, at this stage, has led me to change my mind about the appropriateness of referral,” Bradley told Parliament. “Unless new evidence from other representations changes my mind in coming weeks, the bid will therefore be referred for a Phase 2 review on at least one ground: media plurality.”
