Armie Hammer Apologizes for Comparing Casey Affleck and Nate Parker's Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Armie Hammer is apologizing for his recent comments criticizing Casey Affleck's 2017 Best Actor Oscar win.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hammer said there was a double standard at play when it comes to how Hollywood deals with its alleged abusers. The Call Me by Your Name star explained what he sees as a disparity in how the Academy treated director Nate Parker -- whose Oscar campaign for 2016's Birth of a Nation went south when a past rape case surfaced -- and Affleck, who was awarded Best Actor for Manchester by the Sea at the 2017 Academy Awards, despite allegations of sexual harassment in his past.

Hammer acknowledges the comparison was "poor" in a statement to People.

“I would like to sincerely apologize to Casey and his family for my recent comments about him in my THR interview," the statement reads. "Without knowing the facts about the civil lawsuits at issue (which I now understand »

Now, SpongeBob’s eclectic world is the source of a delightful new theater production conceived and directed by Tina Landau with a book written by Kyle Jarrow and music supervision, orchestration and arrangements by Tom Kitt. The show, playing at The Palace Theatre, stars Ethan Slater as the titular sponge, Gavin Lee as Squidward Q. Tentacles, Lilli Cooper as Sandy Cheeks, Danny Skinner as Patrick Star and Wesley Taylor as Sheldon Plankton.

“When I heard that they were developing it, my head exploded,” says Jarrow, who jumped at the opportunity to be part of the production. Having worked in theater »

‘The Muppet Christmas Carol’ Turns 25! Looking Back on Making the Holiday Classic

“All my friends have worked with the Muppets. Everybody I know has done a thing with the Muppets and I always felt a little bit left out,” Michael Caine told Et in 1992 on the set of The Muppet Christmas Carol, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. “But they only did half-hour television shows and I got to do a two-hour movie, so it's great.”

While Caine donned the trademark robes and night cap to portray Ebenezer Scrooge, the reimagining of the Charles Dickens classic also featured Kermit as Bob Cratchit, Fozzie as Mr. Fozziewig (modified from Fezziwig), Miss Piggy as Mrs. Cratchit and Gonzo as Dickens, who hilariously narrates the story with Rizzo the Rat. Despite the recognizable names and faces, some voices of the characters would sound a little different to Muppet fans.

Mario Batali Steps Away From 'The Chew,' Restaurant Empire Following Sexual Harassment Allegations

Celebrity chef Mario Batali is taking time off from his businesses, as well as co-hosting The Chew, amid multiple sexual harassment allegations against him.

Four women have accused 57-year-old Batali of touching them inappropriatedly over a period that spans at least two decades, Eater New York reports. One woman alleges Batali groped her breasts at an after-party when she was in her 20s, and one woman alleges that he repeatably grabbed her from behind and held her tightly against his body. Three of the women allegedly worked for Batali at some point.

Batali apologized in a statement to Eater, and didn't deny the allegations.

“I apologize to the people I have mistreated and hurt," the statement reads. "Although the identities of most of the individuals mentioned in these stories have not been revealed to me, much of the behavior described does, in fact, match up with ways I have acted. That behavior was wrong »

Golden Globes 2018: The 8 Biggest Movie Nomination Surprises and Snubs

The Golden Globe nominations are as Golden Globe-y as ever. It is largely impossible to predict who the Hollywood Foreign Press Association will deem worthy of being invited to their annual shindig, and this year proved no exception. While there were enough sure things in the mix (the HFPA loves Meryl Streep) and some omissions we knew were longshots all along (sorry, Wonder Woman), there are a number of surprises and snubs worth discussing.

Surprises

Christopher Plummer for All the Money in the World. And here we said it as a joke. We didn't know anyone had even seen All the Money in the World yet -- since Plummer filmed his parts last month -- but he somehow managed a nomination. (Which means Michael Stuhlbarg was snubbed for Call Me By Your Name.) Really, all the love for All the Money in the World, which also included nominations for Best Actress for Michelle Williams and Best Director »

Christopher Plummer Earns Golden Globe Nomination for Kevin Spacey 'All the Money in the World' Role

Christopher Plummer earned a Golden Globe nomination for Ridley Scott's Getty family biopic, All the Money in the World.

The nomination comes as a bit of a surprise considering the actor stepped into the role of J. Paul Getty only last month, after Kevin Spacey was removed from the film.

Initial allegations of sexual misconduct were leveraged against Spacey by Star Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp in October. In an interview with Buzzfeed, Rapp claimed that Spacey came on to him in 1986, when he was just 14 years old. Since then, eight current and former House of Cards employees have come forward claiming that Spacey created a "toxic" work environment on set. He has also been accused of sexual misconduct and assault by several other men. Through his lawyer, Spacey has denied all these allegations.

In addition to being removed from All the Money in the World, Netflix severed all ties with Spacey, including canceling a planned »
