'The Crown' Helps Boost U.K. Creative Sector Support to Record $900M

The U.K.'s creative sector welcomed more than £700 million ($907 million) in government support over the last year, according to newly released official statistics. 

The record figure was reached thanks to support for TV shows such as Netflix's award-winning series The Crown, and indie film Lady Macbeth, which both benefited from tax incentives.

"Worth £4.3 billion ($5.6 billion) to the economy, U.K. film is the country’s fastest growing sector, employing over 66,000 people," said British Film Institute CEO Amanda Nevill.

Evan Helmuth, 'The Devil Inside' Actor, Dies at 40

Evan Helmuth, the actor known for his role in The Devil Inside, has died after complications related to a stroke, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. He was 40.

Helmuth's most high-profile movie role was the lead in the 2012 horror movie The Devil Inside, in which he played Father David Keane. Most recently he also had a role in the 2013 biopic Jobs starring Ashton Kutcher.

His other notable film credits include Garfield and 2005's Fever Pitch where he played the best friend of Jimmy Fallon's baseball-obsessed character.

Red West, Actor, Songwriter and Longtime Elvis Presley Confidant, Dies at 81

Red West, a boyhood friend and member of Elvis Presley's "Memphis Mafia" who appeared in many of the singer's movies as well as in Road House, Black Sheep Squadron and Goodbye Solo, has died. He was 81.

West died Tuesday at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis after suffering an aortic aneurysm, his wife, Pat, told The Commercial Appeal newspaper.
